5th May Monday Hokitika to Franz Josef

In Hokitika, spoke to Michael in the morning, ensured us that the orchid and our home were fine...

Booked a 2.30 pm doctor appointment for my mum and me.

Before the appointment we drove to a nearby lake for a few hours. More waving of my fishing rod at the water and no response from the fish. The ducks came and we fed them with some bread.

The lake, Lake Kaniere, was used to provide electricity and water to Hokitika in the past. The scenery is, once again stunning. No wind, so the water was like mirror. Snow capped mountains in the distance. I could have live here!

Then to the doctors (It was a virus infection and we do not get any sympathy. We came out NZ$200 poorer and not any better. The doctor did give us the name of the medicine and we were better after a few days) and onto Franz Josef for the night. More lovely lakes as we drove past.
