Today we arrived in Auckland from Singapore.
The flight was ok, the seats in the 747 were narrower and closer together than the A380 but we all managed to sleep a bit.
NZ Immigration & Customs were great, lots of "Welcome to NZ" and "Enjoy your holiday".
We had to declare all food (Milo for Mum, rice biscuits for me) and my fishing rod, but no difficulties.
Got a SIM card from Vodaphone shop in the airport and called Wilderness for collections.
A very chirpy Amanda from Wilderness came and collected us and took us to their offices not far from the airport.
She shopwed us around the campervan, we unpacked and drove to the nearest supermarket to stock up and then drove to the campsite just North of Thames on the Coromandel Peninsula about 2 hours drive from the airport.
Dicksons Holiday Park is small. Some old caravans (one with a wooden bedroom attached!) and some chalets. The facilities were good and clean and there was a well equipped kitchen.
We connected to the electricity and everything, bar the microwave, worked great.
The park has a butterfly and orchid carden, which we didn't visit.
